Structural Integration

Structural Integration is a comprehensive balancing process involving collaboration between the client and therapist. It encompasses 12 sessions, each lasting 75 to 90 minutes, structured with a beginning, middle, and end.

This approach is not a quick-fix solution but rather an integral journey within your own body, ideally undertaken over a period of 6 to 12 months.

The primary technique employed is Myofascial Release, complemented by selected exercises and movements that foster integration. This combination stimulates the kinesthetic sense and enhances the conditions for truly owning one's process.

Each individual's starting point is unique, and thus the experience of Structural Integration will also be unique. The 12-session series is designed to address different areas progressively, and it should be completed as a cohesive process.

The initial four sessions focus on the outer lines: Superficial Front Line, Superficial Back Line, Lateral Line, and Spiral Line. These sessions hydrate the connective tissue between major muscle groups to enhance coherent mobility. Sessions five through seven concentrate on stabilizing the deep lines, namely the Deep Front Line and Deep Back Line. These deep structures often exhibit strong, dominant patterns that can limit mobility and affect posture across multiple joints.

A gait analysis conducted during each session serves as a fundamental tool to reveal how compensations influence body movement from the feet to the head. The eighth session specifically addresses the asymmetry of the jaw, cranium, and face, while the ninth session focuses on the hands, arms, and shoulders, working on the arm lines and balancing the shoulders relative to the thorax. In sessions ten through twelve, all lines are assessed concerning the functional lines, and specific areas are revisited to make a final impact on the client's most prominent features.

Movement is integrated throughout the treatment. Each session lasts approximately 75 minutes, with a recommended interval of 7 to 14 days between sessions to maintain continuity in the awareness process, which is crucial for achieving optimal results.

Structural Integration can be regarded as an informed balance between touch and movement, providing a foundational basis for establishing a balanced and straightforward improvement in body posture.
